The Wet on Wet Technique of Oil Painting.

BILL ALEXANDERThis simple technique, made famous by William ‘Bill’ Alexander, has revolutionised the art of oil painting.  Bill Alexander spent years developing and refining this special technique to make it possible for ANYONE to create a painting with the minimum of instruction.  With traditional oil painting it often takes weeks, or even longer, to finish one painting.  With the Alexander Wet On Wet Technique you can complete a fabulous landscape oil painting in just one afternoon!

Bob RossYou may have heard of Bill Alexander and his TV Programme ‘The Magic of Oil Painting’……you may have heard of one of Bill’s students – none other than Bob Ross of ‘Joy of Painting’ fame….both Alexander (above) and Ross (left) could produce an entire landscape in under half an hour on their respective television shows!

The secret to this technique lies in the base medium – a thin oil base, often white in colour, applied direct to the primed canvas.  This is the first layer of ‘wet’.  Thick oil paints are applied on top of this base, making it easy to move, mix and blend colour direct on the canvas with just a few strokes of the brush.  This is the second layer of ‘wet’ – hence the ‘wet on wet technique’.

Special tools are used for this technique too.  There’s large bristle landscape and blender brushes, designed specifically to make clouds, trees, bushes and lakes in just a few strokes.  A special angled palette knife will make the most beautiful mountains too.

HiIt really is true that ANYONE can oil paint the lovely landscapes shown on this website, regardless of skill and artistic talent.  With my expert and experienced guidance you’ll discover hidden talent that will astound you.  If you can hold the brush I can show you how in my easy step by step classes.  I offer a money back guarantee on your first class – if you’re not happy with your results you get a full refund.  (………………and I’m happy to say I’ve not given a refund yet!)
